1000 Chief Signal & Telecommunication Engineer Post Vacancy - Konkan Railway Corporation Limited 1About Konkan Railway:

Konkan Railway Women’s Cultural & Social Service -Association (KRWC & SSA) was formed in the year 1999 & got registered with Charity Commissioner, Thane on 3rd October, 2003. The Central Committee is operated from KR Vihar, Nerul & it has two branches at Ratnagiri & Karwar.

KRWC & SSA has started Sankalp – Education Academy (Coaching Classes) at Nerul, Navi Mumbai.

KRWC & SSA is actively involved in the “Swachh Vidyalaya Campaign” by adopting 20 schools along KR route. Also Plantation of fruit bearing trees in these schools.

KRWC & SSA also contributed more than Rs. 4 lakhs to the PM Relief Fund towards J&K Relief.

Construction of “Konkan Railway” – probably the most challenging Railway Project of independent India passing through rugged terrain of Western Ghat – was completed in 1998 giving a new direction to development of coastal regions of Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka.

While contributing its share in country’s development, Konkan Railway, as a responsible Corporate Citizen, also discharges its Corporate Social Responsibility in a mission mode, focusing on computer literacy, green energy, health care, education, environment sustainability to name the few.

Vision Statement of Konkan Railway for CSR activities is : To be a corporate with its strategies, policies and actions aligned with wider social concerns, through initiatives in education, health, environment and socially relevant matters.

In line with the mission and Vision Statement Konkan Railway has identified Education & Skill Enhancement, Green Energy and Environment sustainability to cover under its CSR program

Konkan Railway also has introduced a unique mode of transport called RORO for cargo truck, wherein loaded / empty trucks are loaded on specially designed Railway Wagons, and are transported over its network. The rail-wheel interaction has minimum friction of coefficient. This results in transportation of same quantum of Cargo at minimum possible consumption of fuel, thereby saving millions of litres of fuel every year.

This has cascading benefits like reduction in consumption of Hydro-Carbon, reduction in pollution, decongestion of roads and reduction in road accident. It, however, needs to be mentioned here that despite these direct and collateral benefits, these services are not part of our CSR activities.

KRWC & SSA this year also had arranged Goa trip, in its effort to bring a smile on the face of the children suffering from various types of cancer and who have spent most of their time in the hospitals longing to go out and enjoy their life. A 3AC coach was attached to 12133 DN Mangalore Super fast Express Ex-CSTM to Madgaon. There were about 40 children, in the age group of 03 to 16 years accompanied by their attendants along with paramedical staff of Tata Memorial Hospital. To & fro on boarded hospitality was arranged and gift hampers were also distributed.

KRWC & SSA provides medical aid & financial assistance to distress, orphanage, poor & deserving students, arranging blood donation camp, etc.

The Konkan Railway was the missing link between India’s commercial capital, Mumbai, and Mangalore. The 741-kilometre line connects Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka States — a region of criss-crossing rivers, plunging valleys and mountains that soar into the clouds.

The Konkan is a coastal strip of land bounded by the Sahyadri hills on the east, and Arabian Sea on the west. It is a land where mythology breathes side by side with economic growth,a land with rich mineral resources, dense forest cover and a landscape fringed with paddy, coconut and mango trees. The formidable terrain to be conquered and the short construction period meant that the project could only be completed with the help of several technological innovations. Apart from setting a trend for other infrastructure projects in the country, the Konkan Railway provides concrete proof of the skills of Indian engineers, their discipline, team spirit and courage. But it is also a tribute to the unconquerable human spirit. Beyond the technical jargon, it was a leap of faith that made the long cherished dream of the people of the region possible.

The Konkan Railway has also in a way changed the lives of the Engineers and other people associated with the project. For them it was the glory of overcoming all odds, and the satisfaction and pride that they have built something for posterity.

The completion of the Konkan Railway was a “tryst with destiny” for many people in the Konkan region, redeemed in the 50th year of the nation’s Independence. It is hence entirely fitting that the first train on the completed track was flagged off on January 26, 1998, Republic Day.
