Gaya Junction has a rich history dating back to the development of a connection from the Howrah-Delhi main line in 1900. As a crucial junction on the Delhi Kolkata Grand Chord route, it is served by numerous express and superfast trains from all corners of the country. Gaya Junction stands as the second most important railway station in Bihar, after Patna, and is the second-largest in terms of platforms.
