Standards of Medical Test in Indian Railway for Various Medical Categories
The candidate recommended for medical examination will have to pass medical fitness test(s) conducted by the CMRL Administration to ensure that the candidates are medically fit in all respects to carry out the duties connected with the post. Candidates are not eligible for any alternative appointment, if they fail in the medical examination conducted by the CMRL before appointment; for any reason. The medical standard for different categories are outlined below:-
A-1
Physically fit in all respects.
Visual Standards – Distance Vision: 6/6, 6/6 without glasses/contact lens.
Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 without glasses/ contact lens (must clear fogging test). Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision & Night Vision must be present.
A-2
Physically fit in all respects.
Visual Standards – Distance Vision: 6/9, 6/9 without glasses/ contact lens.
Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 without glasses/ contact lens. Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision & Night Vision must be present.

Physically fit in all respects.
Visual Standards – Distance Vision: 6/9, 6/9 with or without glasses.
Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses. Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision & Night Vision must be present.
B-1
Physically fit in all respects.
Visual Standards – Distance Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses
(power not to exceed ± 4D).
Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close
work is required. Colour Vision, Binocular Vision & Night Vision must be present.

Visual Standards – Distance Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses
(power not to exceed ± 4D).
Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close
work is required. Colour Vision, Binocular Vision & Night Vision must be present.
C-1
Physically fit in all respects.
Visual Standards – Distance Vision: 6/12, 6/18 with or without glasses.
Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required.
C-2
Physically fit in all respects.
Visual Standards – Distance Vision: 6/12, Nil with or without glasses. Near Vision: Sn: 0.6 combined with or without glasses when reading or close work is required.
