BENGALURU: The Special Court for CBI cases dismissed the interlocutory applications filed by five South Western Railway officials seeking to be released from a case recorded against them by the Central Investigative Agency. The CBI filed an indictment against them for asking questions and key responses to the RRR examination for the appointment of an assistant driver of Loco, a Grade III telecommunications operator and a Grade III technician.
The accused are the chief Inspector of locomotives Katta Narasimha Rao, the chief Superintendent CH Sanjeevappa, the Office of the DyCE (central), the construction organization, the chief engineer of section HV Manjunath, the transport and the wagon, the Mechanical department, B Hanumanthappa, then peon/chauffeur. , Construction organization, Bangalore division, and Superintendent Munigangaiah, office of the chief Engineer of section, Transport and Wagon, South Western Railway.
While dismissing their applications on 28 September, Sadashiva S Sultanpuri, the Chief Special judge for CBI Affairs, stated that the accused had failed to establish that they had the right to be released. On the contrary, the prosecution has sufficiently substantiated the charges against it for offences under section 120 (b) Read with section 420 of the ICC and subsections 13(2) and 13(1) (d) of the Corruption Prevention Act.

The judge said: […] The accused, being public servants, accepted the unlawful gratification of the candidates who were appearing for interrogation in order to provide question documents and a key answer sheet. So they not only deceived the candidates but also the RRB. They failed to protect the interests of their department and demoralized their institution. “
