Standards of Medical Examination in NMRCL for Executive Posts (Technical & Non-Technical): –
Candidate recommended for medical examination will have to pass medical fitness test(s) conducted by the NMRCL Administration to ensure that the candidates are medically fit in all respects to carry out the duties connected with the post. Visual Acuity standard is one of the important criteria of medical fitness of NMRCL staff. Candidates are not eligible for any alternative appointment if they fail in the medical examination conducted by the NMRCL before appointment; for any reason. The medical standard for different categories are outlined below: –
- Executive/Technical: (Civil, Electrical, S&T, IT, Architecture, Property Development etc.) Physically fit in all respects. Visual Standards – Distant Vision: 6/9-6/9 or 6/6-6/12 with or without glasses/contact lens. Near Vision: JI-J II with or without glasses. Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision & Night Vision should be normal. Lasik surgery not allowed.
- 2. Executive/Non-Technical: (Accounts, Legal, Personnel etc.) Physically fit in all respects. Visual Standards – Distant Vision: 6/9-6/12 with or without glasses. Near Vision: JI-J II with or without glasses.

Candidates may note that for vision correction, lasik surgery or any form of racial keratomy is not permitted at all.
Standards of Medical Examination in NMRCL (for Non-Executive Post viz. SC/TO, CRA, Jr.Engineers (Civil/Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical/IT), Maintainers (Electrician, Fitter, Electronic Mechanic, Ref & AC Mechanic), Office Asstt/Account Asstt, Asstt. Programmer, Stenographer etc.): –

A-1: Physically fit in all respects. Visual Standards – Distant Vision: 6/6, 6/6 without glasses/contact lens. Near Vision: Sn: 0.6,0.6 without glasses/ contact lens (must clear fogging test). Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision & Night Vision must be present. Glasses/contact Lenses and Lasik surgery not allowed.
A-3: Physically fit in all respects. Visual Standards – Distant Vision: 6/9, 6/9 with or without glasses. Near Vision: Sn: 0.6,0.6 with or without glasses. Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision & Night Vision must be present. Power of glasses not to exceed +/- 2D. Lasik surgery not allowed.
B-1: Physically fit in all respects. Visual Standards – Distant Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (power not to exceed +/- 4D). Near Vision: Sn: 0.6,0.6 with or without glasses when
reading or close work is required. Colour Vision, Binocular Vision & Night Vision must be present. Power of glasses not to exceed +/- 4D. Lasik surgery not allowed.
B-2: Physically fit in all respects. Visual Standards – Distant Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (power not to exceed +/- 4D). Near Vision: Sn: 0.6,0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required. Colour Vision, Binocular Vision & Night Vision must be present. Power of glasses not to exceed +/- 4D.
C-1: Physically fit in all respects. Visual Standards – Distant Vision: 6/12, 6/18 with or without glasses. Near Vision: Sn: 0.6,0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required.
C-2: Physically fit in all respects. Visual Standards – Distant Vision: 6/12, nil with or without glasses. Near Vision: Sn: 0.6,0.6 combined with or without glasses when reading or close work is required.
